Actor Shia LeBeouf’s “HE WILL NOT DIVIDE US” 4-year-long livestream art installation is seeing a successful grand opening in front of the Museum of the Moving Image in New York after this morning’s unveiling. Anyone and everyone is encouraged to participate in the movement to openly speak against Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration by repeating the words, “He will not divide us”, into the camera for as long as they like.
As of 3:30 p.m. CST, a crowd of 15 or more teenagers have embraced the rainy weather to dance in a semi-circle and scream LeBeouf’s message. Seeing his dream realized to its utmost potential, he stands off to the side and chants along with them.
After some more singing and dancing, a young man shared how he felt about Donald Trump’s swearing in to the US presidency.
“I feel like I’m in more of a totalitarian society. I mean, Donald Trump’s probably not a bad guy, but the way he’s running the country is not the way it should be done. We need to rise up against him. Do whatever you can. Go on Instagram, go on Twitter and tell the world we will stand against him.”
And there’s no doubt there will be more dissenters on the way, after the first day of this art installation’s opening.
Along with his collaborators, Luke Turner and Nastja Säde Rönkkö, LeBeouf plans to encourage people to share their express themselves in front of the Museum of the Moving Image for the next four years.
You can view the livestream anytime online.
